About this place
The sweet-savoury sukiyaki is mellowed by egg and enjoyed with rice. One diner who chose Matsucho’s beef-and-vegetable set meal recalled that dipping the ingredients in egg brought the flavours into balance.
For a fish-centred lunch, there are grilled fish and sashimi set meals. A diner who ordered the grilled salmon set described the thick piece of fish as tender and said its lightly salted flavour went well with rice. The menu also includes a daily grilled fish, a negitoro rice bowl and an eel rice bowl, alongside Kyoto-style rolled omelette and cold tofu set meals, as well as mini rice bowls. There are options to suit different appetites and moods, from a substantial sukiyaki or eel rice bowl to a lighter omelette or cold tofu set meal.
Lunch is served on Fridays from 11:30 to 14:00. In the evening, the kaiseki menu lists two options, “Oike” and “Hatsune”. Reservations are recommended for dinner featuring Kyoto-style Japanese cuisine.
